LAHORE: All Private Schools Association announced on Tuesday to that all the schools in Punjab will remain open on Wednesday, November 9, on Iqbal Day 2016.
The Interior Ministry on Tuesday noon issued a notification, dismissing the summary for Iqbal Day (November 9) to be declared a holiday.
Schools in Sindh, Balochistan closed
Educational institutes in Sindh and Balochistan will remain closed on November 09 on account of Iqbal Day, according to notifications issued by the provincial education departments.
In the meantime, Rawalpindi city administration did not wait for any notification or announcement from federation or the province and announced to mark tomorrow as public holiday.
ISLAMABAD: Interior Ministry Tuesday denied issuing any notification declaring November 9 a public holiday on account of Iqbal Day.
Earlier, notifications reportedly issued by the interior ministry made rounds on social media, saying the federal government had decided to declare Nov 9 a public holiday.
However, shortly after the ‘fake’ notification went viral, the interior ministry denied issuing any such memo.
Iqbal day is celebrated every year as a tribute to “poet of the east” Allama Muhammad Iqbal, who was born on Nov 9, 1877 in Sialkot.
Sindh government has announced that educational institutions will remain closed tomorrow (Wednesday) in Sindh to mark Iqbal Day.
Meanwhile, Sindh Education Department said educational institutions will remain closed tomorrow (November 9) across the province.
Rawalpindi Private Schools Association has also announced holiday on the occasion of Iqbal Day.
President Private Schools Association Abrar Ahmed said all educational institutions located in Rawalpindi division will remain closed tomorrow. –Samaa.tv
